For over 30 years, we've fuelled hungry snackers all across the continent, baking one of Europe's most beloved flapjacks: Ma Baker Giant Bars.

Stood next to his oven in 1992, a twenty-something year old Sam baked the world's first ever Giant Bar flapjack. Fast forward to now and with over 350 million bars sold, what started as a tasty home-baked snack is now a well-established family business, proudly providing snackers with premium quality flapjacks.

2023 - NEW REBRAND

1998 - SAM OPENS OUR FIRST FACTORY IN BRISTOL

Sam moves to Bristol and opens first bakery.

OUR STORY

Now you've learnt a little bit about us, take a peek at our journey over the years.

To set the scene, imagine London's Maida Vale in the 90's and our young founder Sam eagerly waiting for his first batch of flapjacks to bake...

As word gets around about his new range, export opportunities come up and soon our tasty flapjacks get sold in Ireland, Spain and Belgium.

1996 - FIRST EUROPEAN EXPORT

To keep up with the growing demand, the Giant Bars team began to expand and soon there was a real buzz around both the factory and office! 

2000 - EXPANDING THE
GIANT BARS TEAM

More new flavours are introduced and now the range grows to 16 flavours including some delicious yogurt and chocolate topped bars

2004 - EXPANDED FLAPJACK FLAVOURS RANGE

2007 - EXPANDING INTO NEW EUROPEAN MARKETS

Our early success is building and sales are spreading further afield as we start selling to more new countries around Europe including Hungary and Croatia!

It was now time to expand. The company invests £1m in a new bakery in Fishponds, Bristol.

2011 - MOVE TO NEW LARGER FACTORY IN BRISTOL

With continued growth and more new flavours, Giant Bars move to their current multi-million pound dedicated bakery in Yate, Bristol.

2016 - MOVE TO AN EVEN LARGER FACTORY

From testing out a flapjack recipe in his kitchen to selling over 300 million bars, this was a huge milestone that both Sam and the whole Giant Bars team are proud to have accomplished! 

2018 - HIT THE MILESTONE OF 300 MILLION BARS SOLD

Sam's son Alex now joins the Giant Bar team to help the brand connect with its' consumers around the world!

2024 - GROWING THE FAMILY BUSINESS

1992 - FIRST GIANT BAR
GETS SOLD IN LONDON

With family and friends loving his flapjacks, Sam brands them "Ma Baker Giant Bars" and starts selling them through local corner shops. Giant Bars fly off the shelves and soon Sam starts selling them nationwide.

All of our bars will always be vegetarian friendly. Moreover, the majority of our bars are even vegan friendly.

OUR ETHOS

Over the years we've built a reputation for great value, tasty, filling flapjacks made from premium natural ingredients. Not only that, in the last 10 years we've been proudly supporting local charities helping underprivileged members of the community and this year we are expanding our efforts nationally.

All of our bars will always be vegetarian friendly. Moreover, the majority of our bars are even vegan friendly.

Standing by his oven in his Maida Vale flat in 1992 - our founder, a then 26 year old Londoner - bakes the world's first Giant Bar flapjack. Fast forward to today, and with over 350 million bars sold, what started as a tasty home-baked snack is now a well-established family business, proudly baking over 1.4 million bars a month and  serving up tasty, filling flapjacks to snackers all around the world!
